Résumé

Education has been drastically affected in the world as a result of the outbreak of the
Coronavirus because the teaching method has changed upside down from the traditional style
to the electronic one. This sudden change has many effects on the educational process as a
whole and on the process of teaching translation in particular, as the process of teaching
translation depends on the practical or empirical side more than on the theoretical one.
Therefore, there were many constraints faced by teachers and students alike, as well as the
teaching process. The study aimed to survey the opinions of translation professors about the
impact of the pandemic on the levels, skills, abilities, and interaction of students, as well as
the extent of their commitment to lectures. In addition to the impact of e-learning on the
capabilities and skills of the professors themselves, their scientific production and their

psyches. The study relied on a questionnaire for both students and professors. The
participants of the study were 20 professors (16 males and 4 females) from Yarmouk
University in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The questionnaire consisted of 23 questions
about the effect of e-learning on the interaction, abilities, levels, personality and behavior of
students, as well as the effect of e-learning on the personality of the teacher. Another
questionnaire was distributed to undergraduate students in translation. The questionnaire also
consisted of 23 questions about the effect of e-learning on students’ interactions, abilities,
levels, personalities and behavior. The number of the students who participated in the
questionnaire was 127 (17 males and 100 females) from all school years. The study
concluded that the negatives of e-learning outweighed the positives, as e-learning negatively
affected the abilities, levels and achievement of translation students, as well as on their
psyches
