Publishing Ethics and Misconduct

The Journal of Languages &Translation publishes original and blind peer-reviewed research papers relevant to languages and translation. Our ethics publication is mainly based on the Code of Conduct and Best-Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics(COPE). .  The Journal of Languages & Translation adheres to the core principles of transparency, honesty, and fairness in scholarly publishing. Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to abide by these guidelines to maintain the integrity of the publication process.

DUTIES OF AUTHORS

Originality and plagiarism: Authors should accurately present their original research, as well as objectively discuss its significance. Manuscripts are to be edited in accordance to the submission guidelines of the review. Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted. The author therefore assumes full responsibility for the content of his article even after its publication in the journal.

Redundant publication: An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Re-publication of a paper in another language is acceptable, provided that there is full and prominent disclosure of its original source at the time of submission. The author may not publish in two successive editions of the journal. He will only be able to do so from the third issue containing his article.

Data and results: Authors must accurately present the results of their research and provide sufficient details to enable others to reproduce their work.

Authorship to the manuscript: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: All authors should disclose in their manuscript any conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. Any potential conflict of interest must be recognized in the manuscript and all sources of financial support for the project must be clearly disclosed.

DUTIES OF REVIEWERS

The role of the reviewer is vital and bears a great responsibility in ensuring the integrity of the scholarly record

Confidentiality: The Reviewer must ensure the confidentiality of the documents entrusted to him. Under no circumstances may he share the manuscript or its contents with other persons prior to its publication and without the express permission of the journal.

Objectivity: The Reviewer is called upon to carry out the evaluation of the article in full objectivity and according to the graphic chart of the magazine. It must provide constructive comments and comments. Comments and personal criticism of the authors are unacceptable.

Conflict of Interest: Reviewers are required to report any potential conflict of interest that could affect their impartiality when evaluating a scientific paper assigned to them. If there is a conflict of interest between the evaluator or evaluators and the author or authors of the manuscript, those evaluators should be excluded from the evaluation process.

Reliability of the source: The Reviewer has the right to use various plagiarism and similarity software to verify the originality of the article.

Compliance with the evaluation deadline: Reviewers are required to comply with a deadline for evaluation of the item concerned. He must inform the drafting committee of the reasons for the delay or refusal to evaluate the article.

DUTIES OF THE EDITOR

Decision about publication: The Editor-in-Chief of the journal is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The editor may be guided by the editorial policies of the journal and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The editor may confer with associate editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair play: The Editor-in-Chief ensures that each manuscript received is evaluated on its intellectual content without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, religious views, origin, nationality or political preference of authors.

Confidentiality: The Editor-in-Chief, the members of the Editorial Board, and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the authors of the manuscript, reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure policy: Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript will not be used in the own research of the Editor-in-Chief or the members of the Editorial Board without the express written consent of the author.

Conflicts of interest: Editors who make final decisions about manuscripts should recuse themselves from editorial decisions if they have conflicts of interest or relationships that pose potential conflicts related to articles under consideration.

HANDLING MISCONDUCT AND ALLEGATIONS

Misconduct: The Journal of Languages & Translation takes all allegations of misconduct seriously. Any proven cases of plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, redundant publication, or other unethical practices will result in appropriate actions, which may include retraction of the published work.

Reporting Misconduct: Authors, reviewers, or readers who suspect misconduct or unethical behavior in any published work should promptly contact the journal's editorial office. All allegations will be treated confidentially, and appropriate actions will be taken to address the issue.
