Abstract

Students of scientific streams whose subjects are mainly delivered in Frenchface this
linguistic problem that affects their studies and constitutes a barrier to their success. They
register at the university centre of foreign languages (CEIL) every year seeking for support
to improve their French language competency. This article aims to explore the origin of this
problematic learning situation. we presuppose that there is a correlation between students’
limitations in French use, subjects’ key requirements, and the program adopted in teaching
French. We applied quali-quantitative research in our investigations, and adopted a French
for specific and academic purposes methodology in designing a course framework. The
results obtained confirmed our hypotheses.
