Activating sustainable tourism development in Algeria between reality and prospects

Abstract

This research aims to study the issue of sustainable tourism development in Algeria, adopting a descriptive and analytical approach. Tourism development is a pivotal element in strengthening the economy, as it has a direct impact on achieving sustainable development, particularly within the framework of sustainable tourism. Regarding Algeria, the country seeks to transform itself into a prominent tourist destination by implementing an ambitious strategy embodied in the Sustainable Tourism Development Master Plan (SDAT) until 2030, with the aim of supporting and developing the sector sustainably. Algeria aims to receive 11 million tourists by the end of 2025, which requires the establishment of seven major tourism hubs, leveraging its promising resources and potential to become one of the world's leading tourist destinations.
