Abstract

Our research paper aims to clarify the role that activating the partnership between the public and private sectors in infrastructure projects will play in advancing the maritime freight transport sector in general, and specifically in Algeria. This is due to its importance as a pillar of economic development and progress for any country. The paper begins by introducing the public-private partnership in infrastructure projects, its characteristics, and its objectives, followed by an analysis of the current state of international maritime transport infrastructure in Algeria. Finally, it highlights the importance of enabling public-private partnerships to develop maritime transport infrastructure and addresses the main challenges Algeria faces in this area.

The study concludes that public-private partnership is an effective tool for developing maritime freight transport infrastructure in Algeria, especially due to  its unique geographical location. Therefore, the government should undertake necessary reforms, commit to supporting these partnerships, and address challenges related to management, funding, and the legal framework. This approach will support Algeria's competitive capabilities in international maritime transport and achieve sustainable economic growth.
