An analytical study of tourism activity in Iraq for the period 2000-2018
Tourism activity contributes to diversifying sources of income and revitalizing the rest of the
other economic sectors in any country that possesses the components of tourism activity, and
Iraq and its various natural and abnormal components on the basis of which tourism projects of
various kinds have been established and over the past years, suffers from unstable political and security conditions which affected the tourism indicators during these years.
Accordingly, a title for my research was chosen to study the reality of the state of tourism
activity in Iraq during the studied period and the extent of the influence of time factor and its
circumstances on this activity.
In collecting data, the researcher relied on a set of tools, including data from the Ministry of
Planning / Central Statistical Organization and it reached a set of conclusions, the most important
of which are (Iraq's political conditions have a great impact on tourism activity in Iraq), and the
study concluded with a set of appropriate recommendations that can benefit the relevant
authorities in this field, including the need to develop existing tourism projects and work on
developing a plan to exploit the tourism potentials and components. The other ones that did not
receive the required attention from the concerned authorities in the field of tourism activity, and
work to issue laws and legislation that encourage investment in the tourism sector to achieve
tourism development in accordance with international standards, all this besides providing the
appropriate security condition for it.
