Abstract:
The textile industry is one of the most important traditional industries that reflects the cultural heritage of different societies. It is a cultural model firmly rooted in the memory of peoples, since it is closely linked to the local environment and contributes to the economic, social and cultural development of societies.
The textile industry is one of the ancient traditional crafts that the inhabitants of Oued Souf have practised since its inception and have inherited over generations. Our study is aimed at identifying this craft in Oued Souf, and we have adopted a descriptive approach because it is the appropriate method for the subject in question. It has been concluded that this craft has emerged in the region hundreds of years ago, flourishing in the nineteenth century, and that every Souf house has a place dedicated to the textile machine that provides the inhabitants of the region with various textiles. This was either for self-needs or for commercial purposes.
